With the manufacturing of a further model being introduced in the near future, we are looking for someone to join our Factory team to fully understand the requirements of the process in preparation for start of production.

The Role

Driving production, quality and safety achievement for one primary production process and other production processes as required, through co-ordinating the activity of Production Operatives and other resources and information. The jobholder will act as deputy for the Technical Shift Leader in their absence, assuming the role of senior person on site when the Technical Shift Leader is absent outside dayshift hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with all health and safety requirements
    • Act as Fire Marshall
    • Act as First Aider
  • Ensure handling of materials and product is in accordance with required quality standards
  • Verify that all production workstations are correctly equipped to run the scheduled finished goods, including completion of all required documentation
  • Allocate Production Operatives to tasks in accordance with production requirements and operator competence in the task
  • Ensure all Operatives are aware of required production targets and regularly monitor performance against targets, escalating any issues to the Technical Shift Leader
  • Co-ordinate change of works order
  • Ensure effective line clearance and set-up of all workstations
  • Accurate and timely completion of all required records
  • Manage PPE requirements for all Production Operatives
  • Co-ordinate and record training of all Production Operatives
  • Undertaking training when required
  • Provide cover for Operatives who need to be away from their workstation
  • Oversee activity of Lead Operatives on other processes when required
  • Undertake Return to Work interviews following absence
  • Manage any employee relations issues at the informal stage
  • Senior person on site outside dayshift hours in the absence of the Technical Shift Leader

The Person
 – Significant experience in co-ordinating/leading teams in a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for all aspects of the operation: safety, quality, output…
– Understanding of employee relations issues
– General secondary or vocational qualifications (e.g. GCSEs..), including English and Maths
– Competent in use of computer systems/programmes
– Experience of working in an electronic assembly operation

In addition, the successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Willing to be flexible in response to any need to work additional or alternative hours
  • Able to be a role model and train other Operatives in good practices
  • Able to co-ordinate and supervise the work of a team of people
  • Able to motivate staff to meet all production, quality and safety requirements

Salary and Benefits

40 hours per week:

DAYSHIFT – 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 to 12:00 Friday

TWO-SHIFT (on a one-week rotation)
– AM Shift – 06:00 to 14:00 Monday to Friday
– PM Shift – 14:00 to 23:00 Monday to Thursday, 14:00 to 18:00 Friday.

– AM Shift – 06:00 to 14:00 Monday to Friday
– Nightshift – 22:00 to 06:00 Sunday to Thursday
– PM Shift – 14:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday

An hourly rate of £10.29 when working dayshift, £11.32 when on the two-shift pattern and £12.35 for nightshift work.
